President Trump has just announced he has nominated U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Neil M. Gorsuch for the empty spot on the U.S. Supreme Court. At only 49 years of age, Gorsuch will be the youngest Judge on the Supreme Court in the last 25 years. His appointment will surely inject some new blood into an increasingly older panel of Judges.
Judge Neil Gorsuch is very well educated, having studied at Harvard University and received his Ph.D from Oxford University. He also served in the Bush administration prior to his appointment to the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, he is known for writing very clear and concise decisions which should appeal him to a much wider swath of the nation.
Gorsuch will be a much needed conservative voice on the Supreme Court and his prior decisions make it clear he values individual rights of citizens over the decrees of the federal government. All in all, what’s most important is that Supreme Court justices interpret the Constitution as it was originally intended to be construed. And I believe that Neil M. Gorsuch will do just that.
